We are pleased to announce the launch of a brand new PayPal billing gateway that allows us to finally do away with those unreliable "old school" PayPal subscriptions.
The problem with the "old school" PayPal subscriptions was that they were totally inflexible, once they had been created there was no way for us to modify them.
If, for example, you upgraded or downgraded your hosting package, there was no way to modify the PayPal Subscription for the new payment amount. This would lead to invoices being overpaid and underpaid leading to all sorts of confusion for you guys.
We'd also see the "old school" PayPal Subscriptions being sent on the wrong days by PayPal, leading to our system sending out Overdue Invoice notices to clients that had a PayPal Subscription set up to Pay the invoice but, as PayPal didn't send the payment on time, the invoice became overdue.
All in all, the "old school" PayPal Subscriptions were incredibly messy, inflexible, and to be blunt, a bit of a PITA!
So this leads us nicely onto our new PayPal Billing Gateway; we've called it "PayPal Automated Payments" and as the name suggests it allows you to send us automated payments for invoices using your PayPal account.
It works in exactly the same way as our Credit/Debit Card payment gateway. When an invoice is due our system will automatically take the correct payment amount from your PayPal account on the correct due date - no more dealing with overpaid or underpaid invoices due to "old school" PayPal Subscriptions!
Once you've activated the new PayPal Automated Payments Gateway it also allows you to go through the checkout process much quicker when you are purchasing additional services from us (Domains, SSL Certificates, Spam Filters, etc) as you don't need to go through the process of logging into your PayPal account each time to make a payment, you can pay from your PayPal account with a single click.
You can activate the new PayPal Gateway by clicking on the image below, and it can be deactivated at any time from within your D9 Client Area:
It is of course 100% optional, but we would strongly recommend activating it on your account, especially if you are as sick and tired of dealing with the "old school" PayPal Subscriptions as we are!
